Formatting for submitting tanka to Tanka Journal:

For a single tanka (5 lines) enter the lines one below the next:

Line One (part of the experience tercet)

Line Two (part of the experience tercet)

Line Three (pivot – shared line between the experience tercet and reflective tercet)

Line Four (part of the reflective tercet)

Line Five (part of the reflective tercet)

NOT like this…. Line One / Line Two / Line Three / Line Four / Line Five

For a traditional tanka pair (a letter and response) label the “First Letter” and “Reply Letter” and enter each tanka with a blank line separating them. This ends up being 13 lines. The submission manager will not accept more than 14 lines.
